So what is going on in the first weekend of March? Well we have 2 events where the WILD AIR crew will be bringing you live race reporting and media. Let’s have a look!
Saturday brings the first South African XCO CUP event and it will be happening on Summerplace Farmstay near Vaalwater in Limpopo. The race doubles as a UCI Junior World Series event which should make for exciting racing in the juniors! The race is presented by Insect Science and Insect Science Mountain Biking.
The course is a 5.2km lap with 131m of climbing. The climbing looks technical with no free miles! Plenty of technical features and flow on the descents. We can see tight racing and lots of suffering coming from this course! Make sure you’re checking out our Instagram channel on Saturday to see what’s going down in Limpopo!
When Sunday rolls around we will be on the banks of Albert Falls dam and the Umgeni river in Kwa-Zulu Natal at the Lighthouse Designs Ozzie Gladwin Canoe Marathon.

Paddlers race a 26km course which starts with a stretch on the dam itself after which they portage their boats down around the dam wall and finishing the rest of the distance on the Umgeni river. This is the last seeding race ahead of the 2021 MyLife Dusi Canoe Marathon on the 18th of March so we are expecting hot racing to be the order of the day! Keep an ear out on our channels to hear how best to see the racing action from Sunday’s event.
Keep it real this weekend! I’ll see you at the races.
