What has the world of bikes got lined up for us this weekend?

The Weekend Lineup - 7/8 Nov - Sa Xco Champs

Very exciting to see is the South African Nationals for XCO taking place in Coetzenberg, Stellenbosch.

All the top riders from around the country have flocked to the Cape to battle it out on a renowned track!

The Coetzenberg track has played host to the World Cup of XCO and much of the same features from those races will be included in this weekend’s course. One very important thing to note, that will be different on the course this weekend, is a the incredible large volume of water expected tp be present. The heavens are opening over the Western Cape and we can expect a very sloppy track for the riders this weekend. Below is a screenshot from www.yr.no of the weather forecast.

The Weekend Lineup - 7/8 Nov - Sa Xco Champs

Cherie Redecker, Candice Lill and Mariske Strauss (who have been battling it out in the World Cup rounds) will be going head to head for the National title! They had a very wet World Champs in Leogang and may be experiencing a bit of Deja Vu this weekend in Stellenbosch. Last year Candice took the win by almost a minute but who will come out on top this weekend?

The Weekend Lineup - 7/8 Nov - Sa Xco Champs

Alan Hatherly has laid down two phenomenal performances in the World Cup XCO races this year and will be an obvious favourite for the elite men’s win this weekend. Last year, Jan Withaar, Phil Buys and Arno du Toit were the closest rivals to Hatherly but with the wet weather this weekend, anything could happen!

The Weekend Lineup - 7/8 Nov - Sa Xco Champs

Henry Liebenberg and Tiffany Keep were the fastest in the u23 category last year. They will both be back to defend their titles this year. Henry has been slowly recovering from a COVID infection but says that he won’t go down without a fight this year!

Luke Moir and Zandri Strydom are dominating forces in the junior category with bright futures ahead of them! They both took wins last year and will certainly be looking to finish their junior years strong.

We are really glad to see the Nationals taking place amongst the chaos this year and we are very eager to see who performs in the rain at Coetzenberg!
