1. Namaqua Camino
This 7-day desert trek takes you through the heart of Namaqualand, Northern Cape. You will cover about 140 km in the 7 days with a group size of 25 – 30 people. The best time to take on this trail is between mid-August to early October when the desert transforms into a carpet of wildflowers. This is a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

2. Hermanus Camino
Hermanus is a special town in the Western Cape that boasts everything from beautiful mountain trails, and beaches to incredible sea life and is a popular spot for whale watching from July through to October.
The Hermanus Camino is therefore a Camino that should no doubt be on your bucket list!

You cover 76km over 6 days in a group of 12. This trail is closed during July, December, and over the Easter School Holidays, with the absolute best time to hike this Camino from September to November. It is just before the December craze, with perfect weather temperatures for hiking.

3. Kogelberg Nature Trail
Situated in the mountains of Kleinmond, the Kogleberg Nature Trail is an experience not to be missed. This trail offers a deep dive into the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom, home to thousands of fynbos species, many of which are endemic and rare.
This 6-day hike covers 70km and takes you through six different nature reserves. You walk across beaches, along coastal paths, under the canopy of an indigenous forest, and even alongside waterfalls. You summit two peaks which means this trail is moderate and would require some level of fitness, but otherwise, it boasts spectacular views!

You can enjoy this trail in a group of a minimum 6 people and a maximum 12 people and we would recommend that the best time to hike is from August to October.

4. Walk With Whales
Hermanus is such a beautiful and incredible place that two of their Caminos made it to our list!
The Walk with Whales trail is a 5-day trail and covers 53km. Your group size can be up to 12 people. This trail takes you along untouched beaches where solitude prevails, past elevated rock formations offering close-up views of whales. These coastal trails lead to remarkable points of interest, including the chance to explore the historical ways of the Strandlopers.
The walk is less about the distance and more about the experience of observing Southern Right Whales in their natural habitat. Binoculars and patience are recommended. Do this trail from between June and November for the ultimate whale-watching experience!
