Best Wildflower Viewing Spots:
1. West Coast National Park
Just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, the West Coast National Park is a must-visit destination for wildflower lovers. The Postberg section, open only during the flower season, boasts a spectacular display of daisies, lilies, and other indigenous flowers. The park’s diverse landscapes, from coastal dunes to rocky hills, offer an immersive floral experience.
You can also try to spot other wildlife in this national park, such as Eland and Zebras. This is one of our favourite places to visit this time of year.
2. Namaqualand
Although not entirely within the Western Cape, Namaqualand’s proximity makes it a popular choice for flower enthusiasts. Known for its endless fields of colorful daisies, this region transforms into a floral wonderland from August to September.
The Skilpad Wildflower Reserve within Namaqua National Park is a prime spot to witness this natural marvel and another off-the-beaten-track place that we can’t recommend enough. If camping is your thing, then this is 100% the place to go for a few nights. It’s a bit far from Cape Town but it is totally worth the long drive.

3. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
Located on the slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is home to a wide array of indigenous plants and flowers. The spring season brings a burst of color to the garden’s wildflower meadows and fynbos displays. It’s an accessible option for those who want to enjoy the blooms without venturing too far from Cape Town.
This botanical garden also has beautiful, big lawns perfect for a midday picnic with incredible views in every direction. You can easily spend an entire day exploring around here.
If a picnic isn’t exactly your vibe, there are also wonderful restaurants to choose from.

4. Clanwilliam
The small town of Clanwilliam is famous for its wildflower show, which showcases over 350 species of flowers. The Ramskop Nature Reserve is a popular spot to see these blooms up close, with well-maintained paths and informative displays.
The town’s annual Wild Flower Show is a highlight, attracting visitors from near and far. You can purchase your entry at the door and visit this Flower Show between 23 August and 3 September.
5. Biedouw Valley
Nestled within the Cederberg region, the Biedouw Valley is a hidden gem for wildflower enthusiasts. The valley’s fields come alive with vibrant daisies, nemesias, and babiana during spring.
