THE DAY THAT CHANGED MOUNTAIN BIKE DESIGN??

by | Sep 17, 2020 | Bike, Industry News, Opinion

Many of you may have heard of the rather ridiculous “Grim Donut” project that was taken on by the mountain bike news company, Pinkbike. The team at Pinkbike set out to design a bike from the future by taking modern geometry trends to the extreme. What could a bunch of tech editors know about designing a mountain bike? Well maybe not much, but it could be that they have stumbled onto something incredible. The Grim Donut has a 57 degree head tube angle (6 degrees slacker than the slackest enduro bikes), 450mm chain stays, super low BB, 83 degree seat tube angle, 160mm travel out back and 180mm up front. It really looks horrible on paper, and today is the day that we find out how it actually rides. They rope in pro mountain biker, Yoann Barelli, to put this monstrosity to the test and the results are… surprising. Check out their video to see what might be the future of mountain bike design.

See you on the trails! (with my new 57 degree head tube)J-Dogg
