It’s the weekend! Bring it on!
Hopefully you will be getting out for a little bit of weekend adventure yourself but if you’re wondering what else is going on in the world of mountain biking, here’s what’s happening.

We saw the worlds best downhill riders take on the Leogang track in a mud fest at last weekend’s UCI World Championships and this weekend there is a double race at Maribor in Slovenia! All the big names are there and the track is looking rowdy! Plenty of roots and off camber with chunky rock gardens for good measure (check out the RAW Practice video below). The first race takes place on Friday 16th with the Women’s race Live on RedBull TV at 12:30pm and Men’s at 13:45pm. Sunday the 18th will see round 2 take place with the Women’s at 12:30 again and Men at 13:45.
Reece Wilson is clearly on form! He has qualified first for the Friday race and seems comfortable in the wet! Tracey Hannah will be going of last for the ladies but as we know, it is anyones game! Minnaar came out of qualifying in 20th position after a near crash out the gate, definitely better than last year where he didn’t manage to qualify. Tune in later to see how he goes and who is fastest in Slovenia!
As good as the track conditions were looking in practice, the rain came down as expected in this time of year and the riders are once again having to deal with very wet conditions. They have said that it is not s difficult as Leogang and you can apparently ride most of the track like it’s dry. We’ll take their word for it.. For more insight into the race and qualifications, watch the video below.
Aside from the Downhill this weekend, all seems quiet on the event front. Enjoy your dosage of gravity riding and have a good weekend!
