The downhill racing from Maribor this weekend was incredibly exiting! A rain soaked course made for a real challenge during the first round on Friday, then after a bit of drying out and some course adjustments the round 2 brought some high speed runs and properly tight racing! A lot of excitement came from a solid run set by Greg Minnaar on Friday’s race. For a while I looked like his time could hold with a lot of fast riders crashing in the wet conditions and missing a shot at the top. The final few riders gave a real wet weather masterclass and Greg ended up 5th overall showing he’s definitely still got what it takes to challenge the fastest in the game! He landed a 9th place on Sunday, 2.1 seconds off the pace, while his French team mate Loris Vergier took home title honours from both races. Ladies winners were Marine Cabirou of France in round 1 and German rider Nina Hoffman in the second round with her first ever World Cup win! A properly exciting weekend of racing! Fingers crossed that rounds 3 and 4 will still go underway in Lousa, Portugal at the end of the month.

Locally the Brewery2Brewery race took place on Sunday. The race is over an 85km route made up of a mixture of gravel and single track. The race started at the Old Potters Brewhouse in Greyton and finished in at The Brewery @Hemel-en-Aarde, Hermanus. Matt Beers came out on top, another race win for him to add to the books.

Have rad week! Hopefully these racers have inspired you to get out and enjoy some time on the bike!

Cheers,

J-Dogg!
