The Weekend Wrap - 24/25 October

Sunday played host to the UCI World Marathon Championships in Sakarya, Turkey. The women’s race was 80.9km long which took Ramona Forchini 3 hours and 42 minutes to complete. She earned herself the UCI World Champion rainbow stripes in a race that came down to the line! Our very own Robyn De Groot raced hard and left it all out on the track to take home a close 4th place, just under 2 minutes off the winner! She says that she had higher hopes than 4th but at the end of the day she gave it everything and was pleased with how she rode. The top results are as follows.

1 Ramona Forchini (SUI) 03:42:18

2 Maja Wloszczowska (POL) 03:42:19

3 Ariane Lüthi (SUI) 03:43:40

4 Robyn De Groot (RSA) 03:44:09

Up in Gauteng, the 117km 2-day Cool Ideas Cradle Mountain Trophy took place and title honours were taken home by Amy McDougall and Craig Uria! The weekend will have served as a good leg tester ahead of the KAP Sani2C in December!

We’re looking forward to more downhill racing this week in Lousa as well as seeing who will come out on top at the next round of the Nissan Trailseeker Series! Stay tuned for updates and info.

Have a rad week,

J-Dogg.
