UCI Unveils 2023 Cycling World Championships Grand Calendar

As we see the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup shaken up with Discovery moving in, the grand plan of UCI President David Lappartient is also coming to fruition! The UCI Cycling World Championships will be debuted in 2023 and be recurring every 4 years from then on. All the many disciplines of cycling (except for gravel in 2023 it seems.. sorry about that one) convening in one location to celebrate competition at the highest level and to crown the World Champions. The first edition of the UCI Cycling World Championships was awarded to Glasgow and across Scotland (Great Britain), with 13 separate UCI World Championships scheduled over 11 days of competition. After this inaugural edition from 3 to 13 August 2023, the mega event will be held every four years, the year preceding the Summer Olympic Games.

2023 UCI Cycling World Championships

Over the space of 10 to 12 days, the host city and/or region becomes the true cycling capital of the world. Tens of thousands of visitors flock to the host region, while images broadcast worldwide showcase the competition venues and their surrounds to all corners of the globe.

Comprising 15 UCI World Championships from 2027, this biggest single global cycling event in history includes Elite events and amateur competitions.

It unites around 2,600 athletes from national teams as well as 7,500 qualified amateurs, all vying for some 200 rainbow jerseys of UCI World Champion. In addition, mass participation events attract another 15,000 cycling enthusiasts.
