Winter gloves for running
Trying to type a simple text with cold hands at the end of a run can humble even the most dextrous of fingers; with fine motor skill out the window, we are ‘pointy index finger typing’. We’ve all been there.
Gloves give you respite from the biting chill of the cold wind and protect you from clenched-fist running. Look for gloves that are lined with fleece or Merino wool, are water-resistant and windproof, and, (most importantly?), are touchscreen compatible.
First Ascent Tech Touch Glove II

Beanies, buffs and headbands to keep your noggin cozy
One role to rule them all – warmth! Okay, not quite. As with the other items in our Winter Running Series, opt for something that provides warmth while still being breathable, is moisture-wicking and offers versatility. Buffs tend to be the most versatile, as they can also double as a beanie or headband and have definitely been a saving grace for many other needs.
Buffs tend to be thinner and don’t offer quite as much warmth as beanies and winter headbands. However, there are ones made from merino wool, mohair, or brushed fleece that tend to be warmer than regular synthetic ones. Needless to say, options in this gear category are unisex.
